CUBEMEN 2

Like Fuzzy Wuzzy Games, Nnooo is also among the number of indie developers having their games showcased by Nintendo at the Game Developers Conference this year. Naturally, this means new footage, screenshots, and details.

But first, for those who are unfamiliar with what Cubemen 2 is, it’s designed to be a fast paced, action packed, original 3D strategy game where the player conducts Cubemen units to defend and attack enemies in a range of game modes including Capture the Flag, Skirmish, Territory and more.

Our EB Expo Experience

Wednesday, October 16th, 2013

EB Expo 2103_5_small

If you’ve been keeping up to date with our news you’ll know we’ve been pretty busy lately. Not only have we announced our new game, Blast ‘Em Bunnies, we’ve also been working with 2 other Australian developers to publish their games on consoles. We bringing Cubemen 2 from Melbourne studio 3 Sprockets to the Wii U. We’re also bringing ORBITOR, developed by Canberra based Evil Aliens, to console(s). Hopefully we’ll have news on which one(s) soon. If there is a specific platform you’re keen to see ORBITOR on let us know in the comments section below or send us a message via Facebook or Twitter.

The recent EB Expo video game convention in Sydney was a perfect opportunity for us to get all the developers together and showcase this trio of tremendous titles. Expos like this are a great chance for developers to talk directly to consumers, for us to show where we are in the development process and get direct feedback from the gaming public. It’s also a chance for us to spread the word via the games media who attend the event. This year’s EB Expo was also the first time we’ve had a game on a console manufacturer’s stand at a major expo with Blast ‘Em Bunnies showcasing on the PlayStation stand as well as the Nnooo booth! Update: EB Expo, SHI, eV, GCAP & MK

Monday, October 22nd, 2012

What, a month since our last update? Let’s go:

Our weekend at EX Expo was a blast. We were blown away by the reception we received for Spirit Hunters Inc and escapeVektor. The days manning the booth were long but it was worth it to see people of all ages playing our games and thoroughly enjoying themselves. We were positioned right in front of the entrance to the pavilion so we had a prime position to attract the crowd. Our new Spirit Hunters Inc banner helped draw people in and to top it all off we had graffiti art of some of the spirits as a backdrop to the booth. We couldn’t have hoped for more! (more…)

PRESS RELEASE: Nnooo receives developer approval for Wii U™

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

Sydney, July 23 2012

Australian developer Nnooo has recently received approval to develop for Nintendo’s upcoming home console, the Wii U. The Sydney based studio is the first Australian developer to announce Wii U approval.

Nnooo has been developing titles for Nintendo since the studio was formed in 2006 and is best known for US WiiWare™ launch title Pop™, the myLifeCollected™ range of lifestyle applications for Nintendo DSiWare™, and most recently escapeVektor™: Chapter 1 for WiiWare.

“We’re thrilled to receive developer approval for this exciting new console,” said Nic Watt, Creative Director at Nnooo. “We can’t wait to see what the console is capable of and already have a number of ideas we’d like to experiment with.”

Nnooo is currently developing Spirit Hunters Inc, an augmented reality RPG for Nintendo DSiWare, and escapeVektor for the Nintendo 3DS™ and PlayStation®Vita, all of which are expected to be released in the final quarter of 2012.

“We’re very close to finishing Spirit Hunters Inc and escapeVektor,” said Watt. “We’ll be showcasing the games at Gamescom in Cologne in the middle of August. Once these games are completed we’ll be prototyping some ideas for the Wii U to get a feel for what we can do. We’ve already had a quick play with the hardware and everyone in the studio is super impressed by the GamePad and the capabilities of the Wii U itself.”

Spirit Hunters Inc and escapeVektor are scheduled for release in late 2012.

The best Wii games you didn’t play

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012

Ah the trusty Wii. Originally a game-changer (literally) and enjoyed by millions as a console to help them get into shape, did it really get the use it deserved? How many people dug deep into the range of Wii games on offer, and how many even knew they could download games for the console?

Now inhabiting dusty cupboards and basements, cast aside by those looking for new experiences and excited for the arrival of the Wii U, let’s not forget this great Nintendo invention. It led the way at its launch and its unique interactivity inspired Nintendo’s competition to raise the bar for their own consoles. Plenty of loving care and attention went into making Wii games from Nintendo and third party developers alike, including us indie devs. It’s only fair then that we should salute this great console and the games which made it so much fun to play.

Games Beat asked some key industry figures, including our own Nic Watt, which Wii experiences they think deserved a wider audience. Take a look at this great feature and see how many of these games you’ve played yourself. Who knows, it might be worth dusting down your Wii and firing it up again for some great new experiences. Remember, it’s not gone yet!

Developing for WiiWare

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

When we sent out our press release about the escapeVektor: Chapter 1 release date, MCV Pacific asked us what developing for WiiWare was like for a small indie developer. So we told them…

Nnooo talks about developing for WiiWare

by Leigh Harris

escapeVektor: Chapter 1 has been given pricing and a release date by developer Nnooo today, who has spoken to MCV about releasing games for WiiWare.

The downloadable Wii title will be available worldwide on 29th September for 500 Nintendo points, and blends Tron style arcade gameplay with intense puzzle action to unique and very colourful effect.

Nic Watt, creative director at Nnooo, told MCV: “WiiWare like all channels for an indie developer is a tough market to compete in. As a small independent developer we have learnt that it is not simply good enough to have a great, highly polished game and expect it to sell well just on word of mouth.”

Wednesday June 8th – Sony Talks, Redheads, & some Press Love

The first meeting of the day was with Sony to discuss the potential for working together. We are very excited by the Playstation Vita and we think it would fit well with some of our existing software and with our ideas for the future. Being able to make initial contact with both Microsoft & Sony at the same event was a real bonus for us this year. We’re very excited about all the different directions we might be able to go in future. (more…)
