Jye Smith (@jyesmith) interviewed me last week for his blog on digital media. The following is the full interview. If you would like to read the original please check it out here.

Ever wanted to make games for a living?
I only met Nic this year, and already I can tell what a brilliant man he is. Not only is he the CEO of his games company, but he’s also incredible strategic about life and work. A really stand out for A Digital Perspective.
What do you do?
I am the Creative Director and CEO of a new games company based in Sydney. My typical day sees me waking at about 7, playing some World of Warcraft until about 8:30 at my desk and starting work between 8:30 and 9am. As we are still quite small my day to day work involves pretty much all aspects of our business such as designing our new games, liaising with media contacts to generate good press and having meetings with our various team members to see how the projects are going. The Votex of Tech interviewed us for his blog the other day (which you can read here). Below is the full interview.
Q – I understand that “myLifeCollected” is a collection of applications designed for DSiWare. What situations do you think a myLifeCollected app will enhance?
With myLifeCollected we are trying to create software which will al
low Nintendo DSi owners to simplify and enhance their lives. One great example of this is myNotebook which will allow them to always have a way to jot down thoughts, notes, email addresses etc while on the move. Instead of carrying a pen, paper and Nintendo DSi they just need a DSi!
Future applications in this series will also provide fun, time saving ways of making your life more simple on the move.

Just a quick post to say that we have updated the look and feel of the site today. It was done in part to make better use of the space as a lot of our text and box-outs were really big. We hope you like the new look.
If you look hard you might spot our new project too 😉

Seeing as we have just submitted Pop+ Solo to Nintendo for approval I wanted to write a short post highlighting what sorts of things happens when submitting a game for approval and why we do it. Please note we are covered by a Non-Disclosure agreement so we cannot be too specific. I hope you find this post interesting. Read the rest of this entry »

Kotaku today put up an interesting post regarding homosexuality in games. Seeing as I am a gay man and also part of the games industry I thought I should put up some of my thoughts in the comments section. My comment turned out to be quite long so I though I should also post it here for those who are interested.
The original Kotaku article is here. Read on for my thoughts on the subject.

Last week Damien McFerran (@DamienMcferran) of Pocketgamer.co.uk interviewed Nic. Below is a copy of that interview. You can also visit PocketGamer for the real deal (click here to do so).
“If you cast your minds back into the swirling mists of time you’ll recall that we spoke to Nnooo’s Nic Watt at the end of last year about the iPhone version of the bubble-based ‘puzzle shooter’ Pop.
We went on to grant the game the covetedPocket Gamer Silver Award when we reviewed it shortly afterwards, with our iPhone expert Tracy praising its “delicate balance between accessibility and sophistication.”
Watt has been far from idle over the intervening months and is putting the finishing touches to a DSiWare version of the game entitled Pop Plus, but he nevertheless found the time in his busy schedule to sit down and talk us through what we can expect from this new portable offering.”

A crowd shot from Supernova
I went to Supanova with my mate @scottrhodie at the weekend and had a blast (although was a bit hung-over). We wandered around agog at the Cosplayers, stands of comics, R2D2’s moving around and video games on display.
It was quite an afernoon. We attended a talk by the actor who originally played Apollo in the original Battlestar Galactica (and was also in the new series as a bad politician/terrorist). I’m bad with names but you get the idea. Anyway it was quite interesting although it seems a lot of them use it as a show-case to get their latest message accross. In his case it was how cool doing a continuation of the original Battlestar would be. The hard part for me being a little cynical is that the main reason seems to be so he can reprise his Apollo role.
